The Wordpress engine is very popular at this time. It runs on PHP and MySQL, and as such, blog entries and pages are rendered dynamically.

Wordpress recently reached version 3.0, but 2.x versions have been in production or many years.

Besides being an open source project, Wordpress is also a blog hosting service at Wordpress.com.
