Honest Opinions

I’m party to an ongoing debate about blogs: what makes the best blog entries? Are they short and to the point - a small note about a unique experience, or are they well researched, written and produced like a traditional magazine advertisement?

My argument is that blogs are what they are because the critical mass of readership required for traditional media is unnecessary. A blog entry can be produced at such a fraction of the price, its OK if noone finds it interesting.

I also take the position that the process of making things a sure bet that a certain amount of people will find interesting actually dilutes its ultimate value. Its the idea of “commercial potential”. Its possible that noone will find some of my blog posts interesting at all, but when some people find others very interesting, they can be certain that the blogs posts are real and not simply posted for the sake of others to find it interesting.

What do you think?
