Google versus China

News agencies have been reporting a lot of stories about Google and China lately. I started noticing the articles a few weeks back when Google's servers were allegedly attached by Chinese networks.

More recently, I've read that Google has since hemmed and hawed about whether or not it would pull out of China altogether.

Now it is being reported that they are no longer going to filter their search results based upon China's censorship policies. I wonder - is this the equivalent of pulling out of the Chinese market? Will they simply be blocked?

I also read that Hong Kong will not filter search results from Google.

What amazes me about all of this is that a private company is having such a significant conflict with a government body.
