I've often wondered why GMail doesn't include some simple Facebook-esque functions.
For instance, the main reason I use Facebook is to share pictures of my daughter with my friends and family privately.
Why doesn't GMail make it easier to share pictures with a select group of people, allow them comment on the pictures without having to send out a zillion emails back and forth?
Apparently, Google is indeed trying to bring some Facebook-esque features to GMail under a new section called Buzz. This comes after the announcement of Google Wave, which includes functionality supporting a wide array of related communications capabilities. I bet they will continue with Wave. Maybe Buzz is even built on top of Wave? I'm not sure.
A little late, but better late than never!
