Spam Karma 2 News

When visiting the options page of Spam Karma 2, I'm greeted with a news message from Dave, the author of Spam Karma 2. Its pretty long so I didn't read the entire piece. I glanced at it, and it seemed to suggest a new version of Spam Karma 2. Good! Spam Karma 2 is great, but there are a few minor issues I've grappled with, including:

  • using central tables for multiple blogs
  • using replicated databases (database cloning)I figured I'd send a message to Dave about my experience with it, and when visiting the home page, I learned that Spam Karma 2 is not GPL. That's surprising, and although I can't figure out what the license is, I think its along the lines of "you can use it but not sell it". That's actually a difficult license to arrange, I think. He says its free for non-commercial use, but that's a little too vague for me.
I'm a little disappointed that my POST block list isn't working as well as I'd hoped - it cuts down on a lot of the most obvious spam, but some sneaky ones still get through to Spam Karma 2. I'll have to keep thinking about this scenario. If anyone can answer the following question:

What is the Spam Karma 2 license? - please let me know! :-)
