No more feeds in Google's Index

I just read on the Google Webmaster blog that they are no longer including feeds into their index. This comes just a few short weeks after I first read about how to exclude feeds from their index manually using the robots.txt file. As I understand it, the feeds can cause Google to rank pages lower because of duplicate content. Its tough being a webmaster in this regard - having to deal with the issues of Google's placement. Ugh.
